Publicized

The "who/what/where/when/how" of Hueytown High School's prom night was publicized in favor of one Birmingham teenager, Courtney Alvis. Alvis had been battling cancer, leukemia, and all its hard angles had taken a bit of a toll on her confidence. Throughout the therapy, she'd lost her hair, and ended up saying that she wasn't so sure she wanted to attend her senior prom because she felt self-conscious about gaining weight. However, after expressing a wish to attend the event with All-American footballer, Trent Richardson, she had a change of heart. Richardson learned of Alvis' recovery and showed up in real life like the star running back that he is on the football field and attended the prom as Alvis' date.

With every headline come the nay-sayers, so naturally one of the story's feedback refrains was that he was in it only for the publicity, to which this blog points to the above picture as pretty darn sincere evidence to the contrary, and even if, for the sake of acknowledging the critics, he were doing it for publicity, what's wrong with a person in the public's eye setting a good example? And, Ms. Alvis was elected prom queen. Win/win; I believe the technical term is "touchdown!"

Life sometimes can be publicized.
